DAWN BROOKE MATERNITY SESSION | MULMUR, ONTARIO
Looking through old photographs of my mother, I realized there was only one photo of her when she was pregnant with me. It was shot on a disposable film camera, the flash at full force documenting her sideways against a wall to show how big her belly was. Today, I gave my mom a call and told her I was shooting a maternity session, and she just went on and on about how she wishes she had the opportunity to have all of her pregnancies documented in such a beautiful and special way like they are today. Although I am a digital photographer, I spent that evening very inspired by film photography. I decided to give myself a challenge and pretend as though my digital camera was a film camera. I would only give myself “5 rolls of 12 exposure film.” Every image was shot with intention, and it was a great challenge to try to shoot that way.
Thank you so much to Brooke for being an incredible model for this session! You were such a ray of sunshine!! Congratulations on your second pregnancy! And another big thank you to Dawn Brook Lavender Farm here in Mulmur for allowing us to use your stunning property. I really truly appreciate it!
