Next month I will be documenting Justin and Jenna saying their I do’s at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre!  Justin and Jenna’s engagement session took place at the beautiful Forks of the Credit Provincial Park!

This location makes the perfect setting for any type of session. It has so many gorgeous trees, a beautiful lake called “Kettle Lake” and open fields that go on forever! Seeing these two all sun kissed and glowing just makes my heart so happy!

Justin and Jenna got together when they were only 16, and now after being together for 9 years they are going to finally be husband and wife!! I have a special spot in my heart for these two, my boyfriend and I have been together since we were both 16 too! So we share the some love story, it’s pretty cute!!

I can’t wait to see Jenna in her beautiful white wedding dress, and to see Justin and suited up!

Congratulations to the both of you!!

Bobbi-Jo and Kenny joined me for an intimate and playful session in Downtown Orangeville!! Mochaberry was out first stop for our engagement session. I would say about 90% of my client meetings are done here at Mochaberry. I am so happy to be able to give my support to local businesses! Mochaberry is such a lovely environment, and I love doing my editing there while I’m sipping on a delicious chai latte! As I currently live in Mulmur, my boyfriend lives in Orangeville and I really do consider it my second home. It has absolutely everything you need! Every kind of store imaginable, amazing places to go for a stroll on a gorgeous day, and the restaurants… OH BOY do we ever have a selection here!! Back to Bobbi-Jo and Kenny…. they had the most beautiful smiles in the entire world! And they had such a fun time together! They were getting honked at while we were shooting in the street, and getting congratulated. It was really the definition of Orangeville: such a welcoming and happy town! Looking forward to my next session on Broadway!

Thank you so much to Michelle and Jeff Maeck from A Dream to Call Your Own Wedding Planning Services for giving me their advice while I wrote on Dear Bride and Groom today! They make absolute magic together and will help you plan your dream wedding!

Oh your wedding day, how it comes and goes way too quickly! It’s so important to be able to sit back and relax as the day unfolds rather than be frantic and rushing to make sure you’re on schedule!

It is important to keep in mind a few things as you are creating a timeline. The most important for myself, quite obviously as the photographer, is your wedding photographs. Planning out your timeline accordingly can most definitely help give you the best quality of light for when we are doing your formal photos. Depending on what time of year it is, the sun sets at different times, making it hard to photograph “golden hour” at every single wedding.

People often ask when is the best time for myself to come on the wedding day, this is the answer I always give.

It is best that I come about 15-30 minutes before the bride’s makeup and hair are completed, and stay for about 30 minutes after the dancing has begun. This is the perfect amount of time for me to capture your moments! The average amount of time a couple books me for is typically about 8 to 10 hours. I require a minimum of 1 and 1/2 hours to capture the family, bridal party and formal photos. This has to be set aside in your timeline.

Example Summer Timeline:

9am Bride Getting Ready/ Groom Getting Ready (Leave yourself PLENTY of time to get ready. It is 100% ok to be finished getting ready early, you can all just relax and have a mimosa.. or two hehe)

3pm Ceremony Begins (The ceremony normally is not one hour, but 99% of the time it will run late. If you are running late, I don’t want that time taken out of the time allotted for photographs)

4pm Cocktail Hour Begins (Family and Bridal Party stay with Photographer until photographs are complete). Family Formal Photos, Bridal Party Formal Photos, Bride and Groom Formal Photos (1 and 1/2 to 2 hours. 2 hours is extremely ideal to set aside, it’s better to have more time than be constricted with less time.)

6pm to 9pm Reception (Speeches should take place in between the serving of meals. I will take the bride and groom outside one final time as everyone is finishing up their dinner to do some more formals quickly with the sunset)

9pm Dancing Begins (First dances, cake cutting. Then approximately half an hour later, garter toss and bouquet toss. Depending on when you have scheduled your photographer, these events can be done within the first half hour, or you can spread these out to coordinate best with your photographer)

1am Party wraps up

Example Summer Timeline WITH FIRST LOOK:

9am Bride Getting Ready/ Groom Getting Ready (Leave yourself PLENTY of time to get ready. It is 100% ok to be finished getting ready early, you can all just relax and have a mimosa.. or two hehe)

2pm First Look Between Bride and Groom, right into Family Formal Photos, Bridal Party Photos, Bride and Groom Formal Photos

4pm Ceremony Begins (The ceremony normally is not one hour, but 99% of the time it will run late. If you are running late, I don’t want that time taken out of the time allotted for photographs)

5pm Cocktail Hour Begins (If I feel as though we need more time to do Formal photos, I will steal you for 15 minutes or so to finish up what I need to get!)

6pm to 9pm Reception (I will take the bride and groom outside one final time as everyone is finishing up their dinner to do some more formals quickly with the sunset)

9pm Dancing Begins (First dances, cake cutting. Then approximately half an hour later, garter toss and bouquet toss. Depending on when you have scheduled your photographer, these events can be done within the first half hour, or you can spread these out to coordinate best with your photographer)

The ceremony time is 2pm because we have to make sure the photos are taken from 3pm to 5pm while their is still daylight!)

3pm Cocktail Hour Begins (Family and Bridal Party stay with Photographer until photographs are complete) Family Formal Photos, Bridal Party Formal Photos, Bride and Groom Formal Photos (1 and 1/2 to 2 hours. 2 hours is extremely ideal to set aside, it’s better to have more time than be constricted with less time.)

Family shot lists are sooooooo incredibly important. Let me define exactly what a Family Shot List for you.

A family shot list is a list you will provide me with prior to the wedding day, it will include all of the different combinations of formal photographs you wish to take with members of your family. These images tend to take about 3 minutes PER ARRANGEMENT, which is why keeping a low number of arrangements are recommended. Here is an example of a family shot list that would take approximately one hour if all arrangements are being photographed. Keep in mind, if you would like to photograph all of these arrangements, make sure there is room in your scheduled timeline to do so.

Immediate Family Shot List:

Bride and Groom with Bride’s Siblings
Bride with Bride’s Siblings
Bride and Groom with Bride’s Parents and Siblings
Bride with Bride’s Parents and Siblings
Bride and Groom with Bride’s Parents
Bride with Bride’s Parents
Bride with Mom
Bride with Dad

Bride and Groom with all Immediate Family

Bride and Groom with Groom’s Siblings
Groom with Groom’s Siblings
Bride and Groom with Groom’s Parents and Siblings
Groom with Groom’s Parents and Siblings
Bride and Groom with Groom’s Parents
Groom with Groom’s Parents
Groom with Mom
Groom with Dad

Extended Family Shot List:

Bride with Bride’s Grandparents
Bride and Groom with Bride’s Grandparents
Bride and Groom with Groom’s Grandparents
Groom with Groom’s Grandparents
Generation Photo (Grandma, Mom, Bride / Grandpa, Dad, Groom)

Of course everyone’s families are incredibly different, so the example is just guideline. What is most important is to state their name as well as who they are. Example: Megan (Bride) Steve (Groom’s Father) etc. this way, on the wedding day I will be able to know exactly who I need for the shot! If you would like to try and keep your arrangements to a lower number, consider having all of the images include both Bride and Groom, which will cut down the number of photos almost in half.

If you have any further questions, please let us know and we will be happy to help answer any questions you may have!

HAPPY PLANNING!

xo
